Conor McGregor Wants Floyd Mayweather Rematch

Conor McGregor has once again spoken about a potential rematch with Floyd Mayweather. In a recent interview, the Irishman admitted he would not mind stepping into the ring against the legendary American again. According to him, negotiations between the sides are constantly ongoing, and he is open to such a fight.

Their first meeting took place on August 26, 2017, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was one of the biggest events in boxing history. The fight, dubbed 'The Money Fight,' earned both athletes hundreds of millions of dollars and attracted a massive global audience.

In that bout, McGregor started well, surprising many fans, but his conditioning faded in the later rounds, and Mayweather won by 10th-round TKO. Despite the loss, Conor proved he could compete with the best boxers in the world.

Now McGregor is preparing for his return to the Octagon. This Saturday at UFC 329, he will face Max Holloway. It is also a rematch: in 2013, the Irishman defeated a young Holloway by unanimous decision. Since then, their careers have taken different paths: Holloway became a champion and had many spectacular fights, while McGregor has been less active due to injuries and breaks.

Conor's last fight was in July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier. The long layoff does not bother the Irishman: he is confident in his abilities and plans to be very active in the coming years. Moreover, McGregor has set an ambitious goal — to become the first fighter to win UFC titles in three weight classes.

As for a Mayweather rematch, such a fight could again become a super event, although purses would likely be lower than in 2017. Nevertheless, public interest in this rivalry remains high, and if negotiations succeed, we could see another grand boxing night.
