Amy Duggar Backs Joseph Duggar's Accuser

Amy Duggar, cousin of Joseph Duggar from the famous Duggar family, has publicly voiced support for the young woman accusing him of sexual assault. In an interview on The Sarah Fraser Show, she revealed that she personally spoke with the alleged victim and tried to offer her encouragement.

As a reminder, Joseph Duggar was arrested in March and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a child under 12. The alleged incident occurred in 2020 when the girl was just 9 years old. Joseph pleaded not guilty and was released on $600,000 bail.

Amy said she told the accuser, "This doesn't have to destroy you. It really truly doesn't." She also advised the girl to reach out if she ever "needed a safe place to talk," and praised her for being brave and honest despite knowing many wouldn't believe her.

According to Amy, the allegations against Joseph hit her hard because he was her "favorite" in the family. She hadn't seen him in five or six years, but before that, he seemed "kind" and "gentle" to her. Amy admitted she now has "double the trust issues" following the scandal involving Josh Duggar, who faced similar charges.

Amy also expressed her belief that Florida authorities will be tough on her cousin. "I think the state of Florida is going to throw the book at him," she said, implying he could face the maximum penalty.

Joseph Duggar is currently awaiting his next court hearing, scheduled for September. His lawyers continue to maintain his innocence, but public opinion and family members appear divided.
