Bad Bunny Wins Court Ruling in Ex-Girlfriend's Voice Lawsuit Over 'Pa Ti'

Puerto Rico's Supreme Court has partially ruled in favor of Bad Bunny in the lawsuit brought by his ex-girlfriend over the use of her voice in the song "Pa Ti." The court dismissed claims related to that track, citing the statute of limitations, but other aspects of the case may proceed.

The dispute dates back to 2015, when Carliz De La Cruz Hernández recorded the phrase "Bad Bunny, baby" on her phone in a bathroom. She later claimed that recording was used in the 2017 single "Pa Ti" without her permission, leading to her lawsuit.

According to a source with direct knowledge, the court's decision on Wednesday "affirms in part and reverses in part" the earlier dismissal. As a result, all claims tied to "Pa Ti" were thrown out as time-barred, but other claims by De La Cruz may move forward.

It's worth noting that the same recording also appears in another Bad Bunny track, "Dos Mil 16", which could be part of the ongoing litigation. The case will continue in the Puerto Rico Court of First Instance for the surviving claims.

This is not the only legal challenge for Bad Bunny. Earlier this year, Tainaly Serrano Rivera filed a suit alleging unauthorized use of her voice on "Solo de Mí" and "EoO." These cases add to the pressure on the artist, who remains a major force in Latin music.
