Baseball's Harrison Bader Crashes Scooter into Fire Truck

San Francisco Giants player Harrison Bader was involved in a bizarre accident early Sunday morning when he allegedly crashed his scooter into the back of a fire truck. The incident aggravated a foot injury that had already been bothering him, effectively ending his season.

According to SFist, the crash occurred around 1:50 AM in the Cow Hollow neighborhood, near Balboa Cafe. A witness said Bader hit the rear of a San Francisco Fire Department vehicle, and then the scooter's wheel rolled over his foot, causing a "major injury."

The fire department confirmed that one person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police also responded to a call for assistance. Witnesses told reporter Matt Lively that they had seen Bader drinking at bars in San Francisco hours before the accident.

Bader, who had been dealing with plantar fasciitis for most of the season, was scheduled to see a foot specialist this week. However, after the crash, his condition worsened, and he now requires an MRI to assess the new damage. The team announced this on Tuesday.

This is not the first time the 31-year-old outfielder has had a mishap on two wheels. In 2014, while at the University of Florida, he was suspended for 19 games after allegedly crashing a scooter into a parked car. At that time, officials noted a "strong odor of alcohol" on his breath.

It remains unclear if alcohol played a role in the latest incident. But this accident is a significant setback for Bader, who signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Giants before the season. His future with the team is now uncertain, and fans and analysts are questioning his judgment.
