Ben Wallace: '04 Pistons Don't Celebrate Anniversaries Like Cavs

NBA legend Ben Wallace told TMZ Sports why his 2004 Detroit Pistons championship squad doesn't throw lavish anniversary parties like the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers. Wallace explained that their generation has a different approach to such celebrations.

Recently, LeBron James, Kevin Love, Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye, and Tristan Thompson jetted off to Saint-Tropez to mark 10 years since their NBA Finals win, posting hilarious content. But Wallace says the Pistons are cut from a different cloth.

“We’re all a little bit different,” Wallace joked. “We grew up in a different era.” He noted that while the Pistons remain close — he even joined Rasheed Wallace for youth basketball camps in China — group trips to Europe aren't their thing.

Still, reunions have happened. Wallace recalled the team gathering for the final games at the Palace of Auburn Hills before its demolition, where they enjoyed talking to current players.

Wallace also addressed his former teammate Chauncey Billups, who is embroiled in a rigged poker scandal. “I hope to speak in person,” Wallace said. “I know the seriousness, but I want to keep it upbeat.”

The poker case has drawn attention across the basketball world, and Wallace's supportive stance offers a glimpse of the bond that still ties the 2004 Pistons together.
