College Rape Accuser Uses Marcellus Wiley's Domestic Violence Arrest

A former Columbia University student who accuses ex-NFL star Marcellus Wiley of rape is trying to use his recent domestic violence arrest in court. According to new legal documents, Janine de Novais's lawyers submitted materials related to Wiley's arrest to compel the university to hand over documents that could help their case against the athlete.

Janine filed a lawsuit against Marcellus, claiming he raped her in a dorm room in 1994 when they were both students at Columbia. The filing also includes a complaint and a no-contact order from a domestic violence case involving Wiley's wife, Annemarie Wiley. She alleged he threatened to kill her and poked her in the face during an argument in a Florida hotel room.

As TMZ first reported, Marcellus was arrested after he and his wife spoke to police. Annemarie, known from 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,' filed for divorce and is seeking custody of their three children.

When Janine filed her lawsuit in 2023, Wiley denied the rape claims and said he planned to countersue for defamation. However, according to TMZ, no countersuit has been filed yet. Now, de Novais's lawyers hope the new evidence from the domestic violence case will support her account of events from 30 years ago.

This case has drawn public attention to the issue of campus violence and how old allegations can be reinforced by more recent incidents. As the court considers the motion to compel document production, both sides prepare for further legal proceedings.
