Daveigh Chase from 'The Ring' Cremated, Mother Took Ashes

Actress Daveigh Chase, best known for her role in the horror film 'The Ring', was cremated after her death last month. Her mother, Cathy Chase Schwallier, took possession of her remains and kept them at her residence, according to the death certificate obtained by TMZ.

The document from Los Angeles County shows that the cremation was carried out, and the final place of disposition is listed as her mother's home. No autopsy was performed, and the cause of death is listed as AIDS — as previously reported by the L.A. County Medical Examiner's office. Daveigh Chase died on June 16 at USC Medical Center at the age of 35.

Despite living in an RV in Los Angeles' notorious Skid Row, the actress left behind a fairly large estate of around $400,000. Her mother has filed to administer the estate.

Friends of Daveigh Chase had desperately searched for her on Skid Row in the months before her death, but to no avail. They were unable to find the actress, who lived a reclusive life and struggled with health issues.

Daveigh Chase's career began in childhood: she appeared in 'The Ring' (2002) and its sequel 'The Ring Two' (2005), and also voiced characters in animated projects, including 'Lilo & Stitch'. Her role as Samara Morgan in 'The Ring' became iconic and brought her widespread fame.

The actress's death at a young age and the circumstances of her life have caused a stir in the media and among fans who remember her for her vivid roles in cinema. Daveigh Chase's story is a reminder of how difficult it can be for former child stars to adapt to adult life.
