Donald Trump Jr. Podcast Viewer Arrested for Death Threats

In the United States, a man has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill the son of former President Donald Trump. The incident occurred during a live stream of Donald Trump Jr.'s podcast on the Rumble platform. Authorities claim the viewer flooded the chat with violent messages directed at the political figure.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York announced that 39-year-old James Gerald Eckert Jr. of Rochester was arrested and charged with threatening to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm on a member of the immediate family of the President. This federal offense carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

According to investigators, the threats were made on June 18 during a broadcast of the "Triggered with Donald Trump Jr." podcast. A Secret Service agent assigned to Trump Jr.'s residence was alerted after a user allegedly posted messages like "im going to kill you" and "I am going to kill this (expletive) on the screen" in the live chat.

The complaint states that Eckert was livestreaming himself on Rumble while watching the podcast. During an approximately eight-minute broadcast, he allegedly repeated similar threats against Trump Jr. and Rumble's CEO. Among the cited statements were "your (expletive) dead, its over guys" and "I'm still going to (expletive) kill Trump Junior."

The alleged threats did not stop with Trump Jr. Prosecutors say Eckert also posted a message threatening the family of Rochester Mayor Malik Evans, and later wrote "You are going to die" on the official Facebook page of New York State Sen. Samra Brouk.

Eckert appeared in federal court on Monday and will remain in custody until a detention hearing scheduled for July 20. This case has once again drawn attention to the security of public figures and their families, as well as how streaming platforms handle such incidents through content moderation.
