Dustin Poirier Lost Major Sponsor After Arrest, Wants to Apologize to Officer

Former UFC star Dustin Poirier is facing the consequences of his recent public intoxication arrest. In an interview on the "Diary of a CEO" podcast, the fighter revealed that he lost a major sponsor and expects more partners to follow suit. Poirier also expressed a desire to apologize to the officer who arrested him.

According to Poirier, the incident occurred on Father's Day. He started drinking because he was thinking about his own father and felt depressed. Earlier that day had been great: he spent time with his kids, and his daughter wrote him a heartfelt letter. However, while traveling, he had a few glasses of champagne, which escalated into heavier drinking.

Poirier said he had two glasses on his flight to Atlanta and then continued drinking champagne and shots during a layover. By the time he reached his gate, his memory became fuzzy. The fighter admitted he doesn't want to watch body camera footage to avoid seeing how disrespectfully he behaved toward airport agents and police.

After the arrest, Dustin Poirier deleted his social media accounts to avoid negative comments. He stated he hopes to contact the officer who arrested him to thank him for doing his job. Poirier acknowledged his mistake and vowed to improve, but the business fallout has already begun: one major sponsor cut ties, and he believes more could follow.

For Poirier, who retired from the UFC, losing a sponsor is a serious blow. He has been involved in scandals before, but this incident could damage his reputation and future business relationships. In the MMA industry, sponsorship deals often depend on a fighter's image, and such incidents can cost millions of dollars.

It remains unclear which sponsor dropped him, but fans and experts are discussing how this will affect his finances. Poirier is determined to make amends with the officer and regain the trust of his partners. However, rebuilding his reputation could take months.
