Emily Willis' Family Settles for $3M Over Rehab Brain Injury

The family of former adult film star Emily Willis has reached a $3 million settlement with a Malibu rehab facility where she suffered irreversible brain damage and became permanently disabled. The incident occurred in early 2024 while she was undergoing treatment for ketamine addiction.

Willis' mother and legal guardian, Yesenia Cooper, filed a lawsuit against Malibu Lighthouse Treatment in 2024, alleging that the facility failed to provide adequate care. According to the complaint, Willis' health deteriorated rapidly after admission, leaving her frail, disoriented, dehydrated, and unable to walk, eat, or care for herself.

In February 2024, Willis was found unconscious. Paramedics performed CPR for 30 to 40 minutes before restoring her heartbeat. The prolonged lack of oxygen caused irreversible brain damage. An early toxicology report reportedly found no drugs in her system at the time.

Under the settlement, Willis is expected to receive approximately $1.25 million after attorney fees and liens. The defendants denied wrongdoing and did not admit liability. Her mother will continue serving as her conservator.

Before her medical emergency, Willis was one of the biggest stars in the adult industry, winning AVN Awards Performer of the Year in 2021. She later transitioned into mainstream acting, appearing in the sci-fi film "Divinity."

The case highlights ongoing concerns about safety standards in celebrity rehab centers, with experts calling for stricter monitoring of patients with severe addictions to prevent such tragedies.
