Geno Smith Case Dropped: Assault Allegations Lack Evidence

The investigation into assault allegations against Geno Smith has been halted, with authorities stating there is insufficient evidence to proceed. The Davie (FL) police department announced the case is now inactive, according to an incident report obtained by TMZ Sports.

On June 21, Smith, a quarterback for the New York Jets, said he was in the shower when he heard a commotion inside his home. After getting dressed, he discovered his manager and son's caretaker inside the residence without permission, as he had previously asked her to leave the child with his mother at the guard gate. Smith explained that while they occasionally had casual sex, they were not dating and had no children together.

According to Smith, the woman attempted to leave with a bag, which he believed contained his personal items. He followed her to her car, where she allegedly began punching and pushing him. In response, he took her laptop as collateral. The woman then re-entered the home, and Smith claims she went into his office, took approximately $20 million worth of designer watches and jewelry, and tried to flee.

Smith managed to retrieve his valuables and escorted the woman out, locking the door. When she tried to get back in, he pushed her away, sustaining scratches on his face and a bump on his head. Police observed the injuries. Ring camera footage showed the woman knocking aggressively while holding Smith's child and leaving with a bag, but no physical altercation was captured.

The woman gave a different account, stating she entered the home because Smith threatened to call police and accuse her of kidnapping. She claimed she left a gift, knocked over a vase, and departed, but Smith then took her laptop and $800 from her car and shoved her to the ground. She said she took his watches to force the return of her items. She also alleged Smith choked and hit her, though officers found only a cut and a bruise, with no signs of choking.

The controversy went public when the woman posted on social media claiming Smith “beat my ass” and made a 911 call. Despite multiple attempts, neither party provided sworn statements. The case has now been closed, allowing Smith to move forward, but the incident has cast a shadow over his reputation.
