Katie Porter Rips Businesses in Old Yelp Reviews

Former U.S. Representative Katie Porter, known for her sharp questioning with a whiteboard at hearings, has now gained fame in another role — as the author of scathing Yelp reviews. In old posts on the popular platform, she criticized a massage studio, a taxi company, and a pizzeria, according to LA Material.

In 2017, Porter left a devastating review of Massage Heights in Sherman Oaks, California. The politician claimed that employees there are not treated with respect and advised customers to avoid the place. "If you want consistent good service and want to patronize a place that treats employees with respect, I would never recommend this," she wrote.

Even earlier, in 2013, Porter ordered pizza from Tony Pepperoni Pizzeria and was unhappy with the wait. She was told delivery would take 35-40 minutes, but the order didn't arrive on time. After calling the place, she was told the driver was on the way, but the pizza only came after 52 minutes. "Pizza was decent when it arrived. But allow ample ample time," she quipped.

Irvine Yellow Cab also got a piece of her mind. Porter said she booked a cab for 6 a.m. the night before to catch a flight. By 6:03 a.m., no car had arrived, and the dispatcher promised it would be there in 5 minutes. After half an hour of waiting and endless calls, the politician had to frantically drive herself and her three kids to the airport. The cab never showed up, and the driver only called when she was already parking at the terminal. Porter called the situation "ludicrous" and vowed never to use the company again.

When reporters from the California Post asked Porter about these reviews, she didn't deny them. "The Yelp reviews are what they are," she said laconically. This response only fueled public interest in her persona.

It turned out that Porter isn't the only American celebrity to vent on Yelp. California Senator Alex Padilla reportedly left a furious review of Great Clips in Northridge. He criticized stylist Jessica, who, according to him, gave his son a bad haircut and showed a poor attitude. Padilla recommended other parents not to let her cut their children's hair and hoped she would get more training.

The incident with Padilla's review took place in September 2018, when he was serving as California's secretary of state. Now these stories have resurfaced online, sparking a wave of discussion among users who appreciated the celebrity showdowns at a mundane level.
