Actor Kevin McHale, best known for his role as Artie Abrams on the hit series "Glee," has fired back at fans who label the show "cursed" following the deaths of several cast members. "Let me log off today because the way too many of you talk about real people who have passed as a 'sacrifice' or a 'curse' in regards to a tv show is f***king diabolical and untethered from any sort of humanity or reality," he wrote, adding a blunt expletive-laden wish for such fans.

Since "Glee" premiered in 2009, three prominent cast members have died. In 2013, Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson, passed away at 31 from an accidental overdose. In 2018, Mark Salling died by suicide at 35, just before his sentencing on a child pornography conviction. In 2020, Naya Rivera drowned in Lake Piru at 33 after saving her four-year-old son, Josey.

Fans backed McHale in the replies, arguing that these deaths involved real people with grieving families and friends, not characters in some supernatural TV mythology. Many stressed that such talk devalues human lives and adds to the pain of those left behind.

The renewed chatter comes after co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed this week that he has considered revisiting the series, noting that a younger generation has recently discovered the show, which has become a cultural touchstone for many viewers.
