Married to Medicine Star Accuses Ex-Husband of Hiring Hitman
Married to Medicine: Los Angeles star Lia Jones has filed a domestic violence restraining order against her ex-husband Colin Dias, claiming he tried to hire a neighbor to kill her. The reality TV star rushed to court on Monday, alleging that a neighbor told her Colin asked what it would cost to “get rid of” her and even mentioned obtaining a “clean gun” for the job.
In the legal documents obtained by TMZ, Jones says Colin is “actively looking and recruiting” someone to carry out the murder. She also detailed a history of domestic violence, recalling a restraining order granted five years ago after she claims Colin hit her with a belt and dragged her by her hair. She described his hatred as having “shifted to control and obsession” and believes he has the “means and desire” to commission a murder.
The court initially denied her request for immediate protection, stating that a formal hearing was needed to address the hearsay assertions. A hearing is set for August 5. Jones also asked the court to allow her to immediately sell a home she claims Colin forced her to sign over to him in exchange for access to their children. She says the sale would cover defaults and prevent foreclosure, but the court denied that request as well, scheduling a separate hearing.
The former couple shares two minor children, a son and a daughter. Their divorce was finalized in 2023, with Colin granted sole legal and physical custody and Lia receiving monitored visits. In March, Lia petitioned for a 50/50 custody arrangement, arguing that Colin provided financial support but not emotional support. She also noted completing a 52-week domestic violence course, parenting and anger management classes, and therapy.
Colin’s attorney, Robert Eisfelder, has denied all allegations, stating that his client “categorically” rejects the claims and that the court previously awarded Colin sole custody because the children have been “thriving” in his care. Eisfelder suggests Lia is trying to modify existing custody orders at a hearing scheduled for July 28. Colin himself has not commented publicly.
This scandal has reignited attention on Lia Jones and her contentious divorce, which has already involved mutual accusations of violence. Years ago, Colin obtained a restraining order against Lia after she allegedly threatened to kill him and then physically attacked him days later. Now, with allegations of a murder plot, the situation has escalated dramatically, and fans of the show are closely watching the legal proceedings.
