Mystery of Nolan Wells' Death: New Audio Reveals Distress Call

The mysterious death of 19-year-old Nolan Wells has taken a new turn with the release of audio recordings. The tapes reveal that friends who were with him on Horn Island called for help when their boat malfunctioned. This incident occurred on the day Wells disappeared and could shed light on the circumstances of his death.

According to the audio obtained by NBC News, the boat carrying Wells' friends back to the mainland encountered problems. Around 4 PM, the boat's operator radioed: "We're at the west tip of Horn, and our bilge pump stopped working. We're going. We're sinking." The recording captures about seven people on board.

Per California Post, the boat was towed for about three miles before it regained normal speed and returned to its original departure point. This happened roughly an hour after Nolan Wells was last seen by his friend—around 3 PM, according to Judge Ashlee Cole, mother of one of Nolan's friends.

Judge Cole also stated that Nolan decided to stay on the island and return later with another group of friends. This statement may explain discrepancies in witness accounts that have puzzled investigators and alarmed the Wells family attorney, Ben Crump.

Recall that Nolan Wells went missing on July 4th after allegedly telling friends he would stay on the island with a girl while they left by boat. His body was found on Horn Island two days later. Contradictions in the stories of his friends and the girl he was last seen with have complicated the investigation, leaving many questions unanswered.

The new audio could be key to unraveling the mystery, but officials have yet to comment. The Wells family continues to demand answers, and attorney Ben Crump insists on a thorough investigation into all circumstances of the tragedy.
