Nevada Governor Pulled Over on Video, Cop Lets Him Go After He Says Name

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo was pulled over by police in Las Vegas, and the entire interaction was captured on body cam footage. The video shows the governor being stopped for allegedly rolling through a red light while making a right turn back in May.

In the footage, the officer approaches Lombardo's pickup truck, and the governor immediately identifies himself. The officer says he already knows who's behind the wheel, and after a brief exchange lasting about 15 seconds, Lombardo is allowed to drive away without a citation or even a request for his license.

Lombardo, who served as Las Vegas sheriff for eight years before becoming governor, was on his way to the airport with his wife Donna at the time. His campaign stated that the governor fully cooperated with the stop and praised the officer's professionalism.

Police have not explained why no citation was issued, though law enforcement officials told the Associated Press that it's common for officers to issue warnings instead of tickets for minor traffic violations.

The incident has sparked debate about whether ordinary citizens would receive the same treatment, with many questioning if a regular driver would have been let off so easily, even with a background in law enforcement.

For Lombardo, a prominent figure in Nevada politics, this incident could become a talking point for critics, though no wrongdoing on his part has been identified.
