New Details in Murder of Influencer Sara Gilson Who Accused Husband of Pedophilia

New horrifying details have emerged in the case of influencer Sara Gilson and her husband Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey. On July 23, they were found dead from gunshot wounds in Sara’s home in Owasso, Oklahoma. Police audio from a 911 call reveals a child screaming in the background; the child made the call. A family member later alleged that Jeremiah broke into the home to kill Sara before turning the gun on himself. Fortunately, the child was not physically harmed.

Two weeks before the tragedy, Sara posted a viral TikTok accusing her husband of being a pedophile. In the caption she wrote, “I wish I was joking.” The video used the Netflix documentary confessional trend, hinting at a possible documentary about her ex-husband. The clip has since garnered millions of views and become key evidence in the investigation.

Sara had filed for protective orders against Jeremiah in 2021 and again on June 10 of this year, claiming he had a gun, threatened suicide, and went on the run. The order was extended through August 24. However, according to The Oklahoman, another woman filed a protective order on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter, who played on a youth basketball team Jeremiah coached. The mother claimed Jeremiah kissed and touched her daughter, but was caught by another coach.

According to TMZ, Jeremiah was the focus of multiple state investigations involving the same 15-year-old. Police documents show that on June 9, another coach witnessed inappropriate touching at an Oklahoma elementary school and contacted the parents. But before police arrived, Jeremiah fled the scene. Similar incidents later surfaced in other jurisdictions, but because Duffey was a member of the Osage Nation and the incident occurred on tribal land, the case was referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office under the Federal Major Crimes Act. Police list the alleged crimes as lewd molestation of a minor.

Police informed Sara of Jeremiah's alleged behavior during their investigation and advised her to seek the protective order she ultimately obtained. Sara leaves behind two children from a previous marriage. Jeremiah’s ex-wife told TMZ that their shared daughters refused to see him after the accusations. This case has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for better protection of domestic violence victims and children.
