Nick Reiner Disciplined for Hostile Shower Outburst in Jail

New details have emerged about Nick Reiner's time behind bars. The 32-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner was reportedly disciplined after a hostile outburst in the shower area of Los Angeles County's Twin Towers Correctional Facility.

The incident occurred on April 27. Reiner had finished showering and changed into fresh clothes but grew impatient when deputies didn't immediately return to escort him back to his cell. The delay was due to officers responding to another inmate who had suffered an apparent overdose.

According to a source, Nick Reiner became extremely hostile, yelling, screaming, and refusing to follow orders. He directed profanities at a sheriff and a sergeant, prompting a deputy to call for backup. However, the situation never turned physical.

Reiner was written up for violating jail rules and temporarily lost privileges including phone calls, visitation, and commissary access for five days. The disciplinary action was reviewed by supervisors before being explained to him in his cell.

The outburst occurred in the jail's specialized medical observation unit, where inmates are housed separately and escorted individually under heightened security. Nick Reiner has been there since his arrest last December and remains under close monitoring with access to psychiatric and medical care.

While this incident was an exception, the source noted that Reiner's mental health has recently worsened. He has been struggling inside the jail.

Reiner was arrested after the late 2025 stabbing deaths of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner. He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and remains jailed without bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 15.
