Nolan was reported missing on July 4 after a boating trip to Horn Island, and his body was found two days later. Authorities initially suspected drowning due to dangerous rip currents, but the family has doubts. Friends claimed Nolan stayed on the island with a girl, but his parents say that behavior was out of character, especially since he left his phone behind.

The family commissioned an independent autopsy, which found no severe injuries but couldn't determine the exact cause of death.
