Palm Beach Airport renamed after Trump

Palm Beach International Airport in Florida has officially been renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The rebranding took effect on Thursday, giving the air hub the name of the 47th US president.

This is another in a series of name changes initiated by Donald Trump during his second term. Previously, his name was added to and removed from the Kennedy Center, he renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and the Department of Defense to the Department of War.

The airport's new name also brings technical changes. Starting August 18, the airport code used for navigation and airline reservations will switch from PBI to DJT, reflecting the president's initials.

Internal memos from major airlines already outline the upcoming changes, ensuring passengers and staff are prepared for the new code. This is a significant step for travel logistics, as the airport code is used across all booking systems.

For locals and tourists accustomed to PBI, the transition to DJT might cause some confusion, but carriers promise a smooth switch with updated information on all digital platforms.

Palm Beach Airport is not the only facility named after Trump. In his home state, there is already Trump Tower, as well as golf clubs and hotels. However, the airport is the largest piece of infrastructure to bear his name.

Experts note that such renamings are part of the president's image-building policy aimed at cementing his legacy. Critics, however, view it as excessive self-promotion, while supporters see it as a recognition of his achievements.

Now passengers arriving in Palm Beach will see the president's name on signs and in navigation systems. This makes the airport not just a transport hub, but also a symbol of the era in which Trump continues to leave his mark.
