Poker Pro Jared Griener Robbed After WSOP Win

Professional poker player Jared Griener experienced a nightmare in Las Vegas: after a big win at the World Series of Poker, he was allegedly hogtied and robbed in his rental home. The incident happened right after he cashed out his winnings.

Griener shared the ordeal on social media, posting a series of messages. He claims two masked men broke into his Airbnb, tied him up, and threatened to kill him if he moved. According to the poker pro, the robbers took his backpack, which contained his entire payout.

The payout was $57,500 — Griener finished 218th in the WSOP Main Event. He was planning to head back to Los Angeles that night or the next day, so he cashed out. Now he suspects someone was watching him and knew about his winnings.

In one post, Griener said the robbers were already inside waiting for him. They tied him up and placed dishes on his back to detect any movement — if he tried to escape, the dishes would fall and alert them.

Once he believed the men were gone, Griener freed himself and ran to a neighboring property, where he called 911. He also suggested the robbers knew the code to the Airbnb, and noted that surveillance video showed they arrived just 10 minutes before he did.

Las Vegas police are investigating, but details are scarce. This story highlights the security risks for big tournament winners and how easily criminals can learn about large payouts.
