Ringo Starr Backs Barry Keoghan's Portrayal in Beatles Biopics

Legendary Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has given his stamp of approval to the upcoming biopics about the band. During his annual 'Peace & Love' birthday celebration on Tuesday, where the musician turned 86, he answered questions about the films currently in production.

Ringo stated that Barry Keoghan, who is set to play him on screen, is in 'good hands'. The 'Banshees of Inisherin' star and Oscar nominee has already earned the endorsement of the real-life subject — the drummer has no doubt the actor will nail the role.

Interestingly, Ringo did not give Keoghan a masterclass on drumming. Instead, the actor visited his home for a couple of hours, and they simply hung out and talked like 'real people'. According to Starr, that informal meeting was enough for Keoghan to capture the essence of the character.

The four films about The Beatles are being directed by Sam Mendes. Each movie will focus on one band member: John Lennon (Harris Dickinson), Paul McCartney (Paul Mescal), George Harrison (Joseph Quinn), and of course, Ringo Starr (Barry Keoghan). This is an unusual format — instead of a single biopic, audiences will get a whole series.

Last month, the first set photos emerged showing the four actors in full costume and makeup, recreating the looks of the legendary Liverpool quartet. Production has just begun, and the premiere is still far off — the films are scheduled for release in April 2028. However, the most important approval has already been given: the blessing of Ringo Starr himself.

Fans are eagerly waiting to see how Keoghan will embody one of the most recognizable drummers in music history. Given the actor's talent and the original's trust, the project promises to be a major event in cinema and music.
