Sunny Hostin from The View Defends Son in Police Incident

Police have released body cam footage showing the son of TV host Sunny Hostin being cited for trespassing. The video also captures the View host aggressively arguing with officers on his behalf and almost immediately using the Harvard defense.

In the clip, Sunny Hostin and her son Gabriel Hostin explain to the officers that he was on a run along the tracks when he saw a hill and decided to head up it. She then tells them he just graduated from Harvard, is an upstanding citizen who teaches 4th-grade geometry, and that she herself is a former federal prosecutor.

Hostin explained that they just moved to the area in the last year, which is why her son mistakenly went onto private property. Additional body cam footage shows officers approaching Gabriel on the train tracks and even putting him in handcuffs while he is on the phone with his mother.

Police also released a photo of the gate that Gabriel says was open, as well as the no trespassing sign he claims he didn't see. The incident occurred last month when Gabriel was out for a jog and noticed a gravel incline that could be used for hill training. Authorities say he was trespassing on active railroad tracks in New York.

Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor and attorney, is representing her son in the case. She previously wrote a letter to the D.A. asking them to drop the case, claiming there was no visible no trespassing sign at the incline's entrance and that her son made an honest mistake assuming it was an open area.

Gabriel's court appearance is scheduled for July 31. The incident has drawn attention from fans and media, as it shows a prominent TV host using her legal expertise and status to help her son avoid criminal liability.
