Taylor Swift's Favorite Teacher Died on Her Wedding Day to Travis Kelce

The wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce was overshadowed by a tragic loss: her beloved teacher passed away on the same day as the ceremony. According to The Telegraph, Kirk Schwabe, who taught Swift criminal justice, died from cancer on July 3 — the day the pop star married the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

Schwabe, a former Chicago police officer, later became a teacher at Hendersonville High School in Nashville. From 2004 to 2006, he instructed Swift in criminal justice and quickly earned the trust of both the future star and her family. When Swift's career took off, her parents asked Schwabe in 2009 to become her personal security guard.

He accepted, left teaching, and dedicated himself to working for the 14-time Grammy winner. The schedule was grueling: long hours, constant travel. In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Schwabe admitted he eventually quit due to burnout, but still called Swift a "superstar" and kept warm feelings for her.

Although he couldn't attend the wedding, Schwabe had approved of Swift's choice. He said she has impeccable judgment and that Travis is the right man for her. His wife Jane added that Schwabe treated Swift like one of his own daughters.

The news sparked an outpouring of sympathy from fans, who recalled how much the singer valued her mentor. The couple has not commented on the loss, but Swift has always cherished those who supported her rise to fame.
