Ty Lawson Called Cop 'White Bitch' During Shoplifting Arrest

Former NBA player Ty Lawson is in trouble again. This time he was arrested for stealing a bottle of vodka in Colorado, and at the police station he allegedly hurled racial slurs at an officer.

The incident occurred on July 16 in Castle Rock. According to court documents, Lawson allegedly stole a $34 bottle of Tito's vodka from a liquor store and then brought it to a nearby restaurant. Police officers who responded to the call claim the ex-basketball star was visibly intoxicated and smelled of alcohol.

When officers tried to detain him, Lawson became aggressive. Per the report, he repeatedly called an officer a 'white bitch,' shouted 'stop' multiple times, and even kicked the glass wall of his holding cell and spat on the floor. However, he later calmed down and even apologized for his behavior.

In the end, Ty Lawson was booked on a shoplifting charge for theft of property valued under $300 and released. The basketball player has not yet publicly commented on the incident.

This is not Lawson's first run-in with the law. In 2015, he was arrested for DUI in Colorado and pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired and failure to drive in a single lane. That same year, he was arrested again in Los Angeles for speeding on the 101 freeway after leaving a club, which led to his rehab stint.

Lawson's NBA career spanned eight years, starting in 2009. He spent his first six seasons with the Denver Nuggets, then played for the Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and Washington Wizards. He later continued his career overseas.

The news of the former NBA star's arrest has sparked heated discussions among fans. Many note that Lawson has had alcohol issues before and hope he can overcome his addiction. However, it remains unclear whether the athlete will face additional charges for insulting a police officer.
