White House Hires Same Company for Reflecting Pool Repairs Again

The Trump administration appears to believe in second chances: the same company that previously installed a faulty liner at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has been rehired for repairs. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum confirmed this in a CNN interview.

Burgum stated that the company "did a fantastic job" and will perform a new set of repairs. He also insists that the liner, which peeled off shortly after installation, was damaged by vandals — a claim echoed by President Trump.

The initial cost of the project was $14.7 million in taxpayer money, but it ballooned to over $16 million. With the new repairs, costs could rise further.

The liner failure led to algae-infested water and an indictment of former Olympian David Hearn for alleged vandalism. The start date for repairs is unknown.

Taxpayers may face additional expenses, as past experience suggests costs could escalate again. The situation raises concerns about government spending and contractor oversight on national landmarks.
