11-Year-Old Boy Kills 9 Buddhist Monks With Truck in Thailand

A tragic incident in Thailand has left nine Buddhist monks dead after an 11-year-old boy allegedly drove a pickup truck into a crowd. The accident occurred in Mukdahan province, according to local police.

Video footage circulating online shows the vehicle plowing through a group of monks, sending several robed individuals flying into the air. Five monks died at the scene, and four more later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Police Major General Pairoj Thaiphutsa stated that the suspect is a child with special needs. Authorities are still determining what actions to take, as the boy is under the care of his doctor and guardians.

The child does not attend school due to illness. On the day of the incident, his guardians were not home and reported the vehicle missing upon their return.

Eight monks remain hospitalized, three in critical condition. Mukdahan Hospital has urgently called for blood donations to aid the wounded.

The tragedy has shocked Thailand, a predominantly Buddhist country where monks are deeply revered. Locals mourn the loss and demand answers. An investigation is ongoing.
