Chadwick Boseman's Brothers Sue His Widow Over Estate Mismanagement

Nearly six years after Chadwick Boseman's death, his family is still fighting over his estate. The actor's brothers, Kevin and Derrick, have filed a lawsuit against his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, accusing her of mismanaging the inheritance.

According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, the brothers demand that Taylor be removed as estate administrator. They claim she has kept the family in the dark, even though a 2022 court order granted their parents, Leroy and Carolyn, a 50% share. Since Chadwick died without a will, the other half went to his wife.

Kevin and Derrick allege that Taylor has failed to properly distribute assets, including money from movie residuals, image and intellectual property rights, investments, insurance policies, bank accounts, and personal belongings. The brothers say they have no idea what happened to $3 million in various accounts.

Among their demands are transferring a long-term care insurance policy to their mother, closing and distributing funds from Chadwick's bank accounts, accounting for SAG-AFTRA residual payments earned after his death, and collecting any unclaimed property. The brothers claim their parents are left without funds and insurance, unable to pursue business opportunities for the 'Black Panther' star's legacy, and suffering emotional distress while Taylor profits from his name and image.

Kevin and Derrick are asking the court to hold Taylor in contempt, force her to distribute remaining assets and provide a full accounting within 30 days, and appoint attorney Jason Rubin as administrator instead. They also want to block her from signing major contracts without family approval, require copies of all contracts, and have her pay legal fees. Taylor has not yet responded to the filing.
