Gracie Abrams' Producer Shuts Down Death Wish Taylor Swift Rumors
Fans have long speculated whether Gracie Abrams' song Death Wish is about Taylor Swift. When the 26-year-old singer debuted the track live at London's O2 Arena in March 2025, listeners immediately noticed lyrics like "How will it end?" and "Nothing new," which seemed to echo Taylor's own songwriting.
Social media buzzed with comparisons to Olivia Rodrigo's The Grudge, also rumored to be about Swift. But unlike Olivia, Gracie and Taylor have never had a falling out — in fact, Abrams attended Swift's wedding! Still, fans couldn't shake the theory, especially since the song was produced by Aaron Dessner, a longtime friend and collaborator of Taylor's.
Many thought Dessner might have inside knowledge about the lyrics. However, in a recent interview with Billboard, the producer firmly shut down the speculation. "Definitely not," he said. "It was written at a time when [Gracie] was writing about a friend's ex being in a bad relationship. It was kind of about that person. I wouldn't even actually know who that person was."
So there you have it — no Taylor shade here. And honestly, it makes sense: Gracie had no reason to suddenly attack one of her closest friends. What do you think?
