Harvey Weinstein Suffers Heart Failure in Prison, Recovers

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein suffered heart failure while incarcerated at Rikers Island, but his longtime representative Juda Engelmayer says he is now recovering well. Engelmayer told TMZ that Weinstein is "out of the woods for now" and feeling fine after treatment.

The incident occurred weeks ago when Weinstein developed pneumonia, which led to heart failure. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where doctors treated him with antibiotics and monitored his heart with an EKG. According to his rep, Weinstein is now able to walk around and his condition has improved significantly.

This is not the first health scare for Weinstein behind bars. He has previously battled double pneumonia, been diagnosed with leukemia, and undergone heart surgery. Despite these medical challenges, he remains in custody.

Weinstein was convicted of rape in New York in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years in prison. In 2022, he was convicted in Los Angeles of rape and sexual assault, receiving a 16-year sentence, though an appeals court later ordered resentencing. His New York conviction was overturned in 2024, but he was convicted again in a 2025 retrial.

Despite the legal twists, Weinstein still faces many years behind bars. His current health status is stable, and doctors continue to monitor him. Engelmayer noted that the worst is over, but given his age and medical history, his health remains fragile.
