Influencer Sara Gilson Killed by Husband After Pedophilia Claims
A social media tragedy has unfolded: 29-year-old influencer Sara Gilson was fatally shot by her estranged husband, Jeremiah 'Shawn' Duffey, just two weeks after she posted a viral TikTok video accusing him of being a pedophile.
On July 11, Sara shared a video pretending to prepare for a Netflix documentary about her 'soon-to-be ex-husband' whom she claimed was a pedophile. She captioned it: 'I wish I was joking.'
Two weeks later, on the night of July 25, police were called to her home in Owasso, Oklahoma, by a child inside. Officers found both Sara and Jeremiah dead from gunshot wounds. Local media reported that Jeremiah broke in, shot Sara, and then turned the gun on himself. Police have not officially confirmed a murder-suicide but said there is no ongoing threat.
Court records reveal a history of abuse. Sara filed for protective orders in 2021 but failed to appear in court. On June 10, 2024, she obtained an emergency protective order, claiming Jeremiah had a gun, threatened suicide, and was on the run. The order was extended through August 24.
On the same day, another woman filed a protective order for her 15-year-old daughter against Jeremiah, alleging he kissed and touched the teen, sent her messages, invited her to his hotel room during a tournament, and offered her money to stay quiet. The order was also extended.
Sara leaves behind two children from a previous marriage. Our condolences go out to them. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
