Jerry O'Connell Confirms Horrible Breakup with Giuliana Rancic
Jerry O'Connell admits he was a terrible boyfriend to Giuliana Rancic! In 2015, the TV host opened up about her short-lived romance with the actor in her memoir Going Off Script. They dated in 2003, but he dumped her a year later. The breakup was awful: Giuliana claimed Jerry ended things over an intercom, saying, "Nope, sorry, homegirl. Things change, but you take care, OK?"
More than a decade later, Jerry finally owned up to his mistake. On the Let's Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa podcast, he said, "I can't deny that I said that. It doesn't sound like something I would say, but if I was writing a memoir, it made for a good quote." The actor praised the former E! News host for her "colorful dialogue" but admitted he was a "terrible boyfriend" because of their "poor" breakup.
Jerry also apologized to Giuliana and revealed another part of the story: there was another woman inside his condo at the time. He didn't name her, but Kelly Ripa speculated it was either Geri Halliwell of the Spice Girls or his current wife, Rebecca Romijn. The actor explained that the relationship "was already in trouble" and he didn't want confrontation, so he refused to let Giuliana in.
When asked about cheating, Jerry was evasive but praised Giuliana's description of the alleged infidelity in her book: "[He gave me] as much emotion as the customer service representative who tells you your bags missed the flight." O'Connell and his wife Rebecca can now relate: their exes also didn't hold back in their memoirs.
