NBA's Malik Beasley Pleads Not Guilty in Gambling Case

Former NBA player Malik Beasley has entered a not guilty plea in a gambling case that has rocked the basketball world. During an arraignment in a New York courtroom, the 29-year-old was formally charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, bribery in sporting contests, honest services wire fraud conspiracy, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. His attorney, Jason Goldman, stated they would fight to clear his name.

Prosecutors allege that Beasley, along with ex-NBA player Ed Davis and others, orchestrated a scheme to bet on Beasley's own performances during the 2023–24 season when he played for the Milwaukee Bucks. According to the indictment, Beasley would tip off Davis about his expected stats before games, and the group would place large wagers based on that insider information.

Beasley appeared in a blue suit and seemed in good spirits as he was released on a $100,000 bond. The next court date is set for next month, and it remains to be seen whether the case will proceed to trial.

This scandal is part of a broader crackdown on gambling in the NBA. The league has strict rules prohibiting players from betting on games, but Beasley's case shows that violations continue. If convicted, he could face not only a ban from the league but also prison time.
