Police Dog Dragged by Truck After Latching Onto Fleeing Suspect

In Oklahoma City, a dramatic incident was captured on video: a police K9 named Dash latched onto a suspect's leg and was dragged by his truck. The footage, released by local authorities, shows a routine traffic stop turning chaotic when the driver suddenly jumped into his box truck and attempted to flee.

The police dog, who was on duty, immediately reacted and bit the man's leg as he got behind the wheel. Despite officers' attempts to pull the dog away, Dash held on tight as the truck sped off, dragging him along the asphalt.

Another angle shows the dog being dragged a long distance before he eventually let go and narrowly avoided being run over. Fortunately, Dash sustained only road rash and is now recovering. Police say he will need a few weeks off to heal.

The suspect, Jose Balderas, was later taken into custody. He faces charges including mistreating a police dog in the commission of a crime, unauthorized use of a vehicle after a felony conviction, eluding a police officer, and interfering with an officer.
