Elizabeth Stordeur Pryor, daughter of legendary comedian Richard Pryor, has opened up about a traumatic childhood memory in her new book. When she was just 12 years old, her white mother called her the N-word during an argument. This incident became one of her earliest confrontations with her racial identity as a biracial girl.

In her book titled "Something We Said: Richard Pryor, a Notorious Word, and Me," Elizabeth details how this event shaped her life. She admits that despite her mother's love, her Black heritage was never discussed with her mother's side of the family. This silence led to questions and internal conflict.

Elizabeth, the third eldest child of Richard Pryor and Maxine Silverman, recalls that for a long time she tried to ignore her racial background, but it only led to awkward conversations with her cousins. She asked them, "Did you know that I was Black?" and "Were you told to behave in a particular way around it?"

Richard Pryor, who died in 2005 at age 65, was known not only for his comedic genius but also for his complicated personal life. He had seven children with six different women. His daughter Elizabeth is now a history professor at Smith College and actively researches issues of race and identity.
