Sean Lowe on Son's Diabetes: 'Hardest Part Is Watching Him Scream'

Sean Lowe, star of 'The Bachelor,' opened up about his 8-year-old son Isaiah's battle with Type 1 diabetes. Earlier this week, his wife Catherine Giudici revealed that the boy was rushed to the hospital after a routine checkup showed alarming signs. Since then, the family's life has changed dramatically.

On Thursday, Sean shared an Instagram video admitting that the hardest part was watching his son suffer. 'We were in the hospital from Tuesday to Friday. It was tough. Isaiah thought he was a healthy kid, with no symptoms except frequent urination. Then suddenly, blood tests and shots every two hours. For an 8-year-old, it's a nightmare,' he said.

It was especially painful to see his son begging to stop the procedures. 'As a parent, you watch your child scream, 'Please don't, I don't want it.' We try to explain it's medicine and necessary. But an 8-year-old doesn't fully understand,' Lowe shared.

The family is gradually adjusting to the new normal. Isaiah now needs five shots a day and must carefully monitor his diet. 'The hardest part is realizing he can't just snack whenever he wants or go to a friend's house for lunch. We have to track carbs and insulin,' Sean explained. However, he added that doctors assure them it will become routine over time.

Despite the challenges, the boy remains cheerful. On Friday, Lowe posted another video showing Isaiah laughing and joking. 'He's testing the theory that laughter is the best medicine,' Sean captioned the clip.
