Sister of Girl Nolan Wells Stayed With Speaks Out on Disappearance

The sister of Katie McCormack, the 19-year-old girl Nolan Wells allegedly stayed with before his mysterious death, has broken her silence. As previously reported, the 18-year-old was found dead days after vanishing during a boat trip to Horn Island, Mississippi, on the Fourth of July. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Nolan's friend, Warren Hudson, claimed the group fled the island in a panic after their boat began taking on water, but Nolan reportedly met a girl and refused to leave her. However, Katie's sister, Gracie, told Daily Mail that Katie has a different story: Nolan said he was going back with his friends. "Katie assumed he was getting on the boat he came on. She didn't think the 'friends' would leave him," Gracie said.

The conflicting accounts have raised concerns for Nolan's family and their attorney, Ben Crump. "She says he got on the boat. They say he didn't. Someone isn't telling the truth," Crump stated. Many also question whether race played a role, as Nolan was a Black student with a mostly white friend group. Others note the dangerous currents near the island.

Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd told CNN there were no obvious signs of foul play or trauma on Nolan's body. Toxicology results are pending. The family also commissioned an independent autopsy, which returned an "undetermined" cause of death but did not rule out foul play. The Wells family continues to seek justice and answers.
