Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Turn MSG Into Fort Knox for Wedding
The big day has finally arrived for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce — they turned Madison Square Garden into a private love fortress. The venue was surrounded by police and heavy security, as photos from the night before the wedding show.
According to reports, more than 70 detectives from across New York City were assigned to the rehearsal dinner on Thursday and the wedding on Friday. They worked 8.5-hour shifts at $80 to $90 per hour, adding up to at least $95,200.
In addition, over 50 police officers — mostly rookies — were deployed to MSG, earning $70 per hour for 9-hour shifts, which totals another $63,000. With some NYPD higher-ups also on duty, the total security cost is expected to exceed $160,000.
The extreme measures are understandable given the star power at the event. The couple's wedding drew a guest list of A-list celebrities, and organizers left nothing to chance, ensuring maximum protection for the newlyweds and their guests.
The romance between the pop superstar and the NFL star began in summer 2023 and has been a media sensation ever since. Choosing such an iconic venue as MSG for their wedding only cements their status as one of the most high-profile couples in show business.
