Tommy Lee Reveals How He and Nikki Sixx Injected Whiskey During Drug Addiction

Tommy Lee has shared yet another shocking story from his darkest days. On a recent episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, the Mötley Crüe drummer recalled a night when he and bassist Nikki Sixx ran out of heroin and took a dangerous gamble.

According to Lee, it was around 3 or 4 in the morning. 'We were doing a shitload of heroin and we ran out. We were like, 'What are we going to do?'' he said. Instead of stopping, they filled syringes with Jack Daniel's whiskey and injected it, hoping to recreate the high. 'We were shooting Jack Daniels. At that moment, I thought, 'This is wrong, someone's going to die,'' Lee admitted.

Lee also reflected on how out of control life had become for the band. They would take handfuls of sleeping pills before going out to party. In 1989, they all agreed they needed rehab or someone would die. 'We were zombies, people weren't waking up,' he added.

Sadly, rehab wasn't the end. Lee confessed that he and Vince Neil celebrated the end of the Mr. Feelgood tour by heading to a strip club and drinking again. He continues to struggle with sobriety: 'The longest I've done is three years. I get so excited that I celebrate, and that's the problem.'
