FCC Targets The View: Disney in the Crosshairs Again

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is once again taking aim at Disney. According to Bloomberg, the regulator plans to rule that the popular talk show The View does not qualify as a “bona fide” news program. This would require the show to give equal airtime to candidates from both parties, potentially reshaping its format.

Currently, The View benefits from an exemption that allows it to feature predominantly liberal politicians and commentators. However, Republicans do appear occasionally — for instance, Vice President JD Vance was a recent guest. If the FCC reclassifies the show, Disney would have to adjust its editorial policies, which could impact ratings and audience engagement.

This is not the only headache for the media giant. Bloomberg also reports that the FCC is expanding a separate investigation into ABC’s broadcast licenses, a Disney subsidiary. The regulator is expected to intensify its scrutiny in the coming days, potentially leading to new sanctions or demands.

Earlier, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr demanded that Jimmy Kimmel be taken off the air after his comments about Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk. Kimmel was briefly suspended but later returned, which did little to appease the regulator.
