Ryanair Passenger Nearly Sucked Out of Window During Flight
An incident occurred on a Ryanair flight from Greece to Germany. According to CNN Greece, passengers heard a loud bang, after which a 60-year-old Serbian citizen was literally pressed against the broken window — his head and shoulders were sticking out, and flight attendants along with other passengers rushed to pull the man back into the cabin.
Fortunately, the tourist was wearing his seatbelt, which gave those around him time to react and return him to his seat. The man was hospitalized with injuries resembling friction burns. Video from the scene, taken after landing, shows the shattered window and oxygen masks hanging from the ceiling.
Ryanair confirmed that the plane returned to Thessaloniki shortly after takeoff due to a window detaching during the flight. The aircraft landed normally, and all passengers were taken to the terminal. According to preliminary data, the bang was caused by a piece of the engine breaking off and hitting the window, ripping it from the fuselage.
Representatives of the airline stated that the remaining passengers were sent to their destination on a replacement aircraft, and the flight proceeded without incident. This case again raises questions about flight safety and the quality of maintenance of budget carriers' aircraft, which are often operated intensively and with minimal delays in maintenance.
This is not the first incident for Ryanair involving technical issues, but the company usually emphasizes that it complies with all safety standards. Passengers who witnessed the incident are in shock, and social media is already discussing how serious the consequences could have been if the seatbelt had not been fastened.
Experts note that such cases are extremely rare, but they remind us of the importance of following safety rules on board, including using seatbelts even when the sign is off. Greek aviation authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact causes and prevent recurrence in the future.
